The 4th edition of the participative music and arts festival Last Summer Dance will await young and old on the last August weekend next to the castle in Erpeldange-sur-Sûre! It’s a synthaesia of music, arts, workshops – we want to build a platform of exchange where boundaries are inexistent, and discussions about our multicultural society imminent.
Making up an integral part of this year’s Last Summer Dance festival, the project “Bridges Not Borders” aims to assemble people in need of international protection, European and Luxembourgish citizens, as well as everyone who falls in between these rigid categories. In this context, a number of activities have been developed for, with, and by migrants and refugees, including the preparation of Syrian dishes; music and dance acts; a presentation on Syrian culture; and the exhibition of traditional dresses from all around the world.
Among the highlights of this project are the performance “Nobody Told Me…”, featured in collaboration with Philharmonie and Ecouter pour Mieux S’Entendre (EME), and a Round Table on the subject of Integration, gathering some of the most important organisations active in the field of the reception and integration of migrants in Luxembourg.
The music programmation happens on two stages and puts famous Luxembourgish musicians such as “Tuys” next to revelations from Germany and France like “Kissamilé”, “Vello Publico” and “Giant Rooks or local newcomers: The Kooters, Mr. Charly, Choppy Bumpy Peaches. The art exhibition is all about “The Mind”, and to which places, sinister or bright, it can lead us. There will be plenty of workshops, from slacklining over improv theatre to percussion playing. Last but not least, you can test your flexibility and coordination during yoga or capoeira!
Besides all of this, we don’t want to forget about the environment – we are fondly interested in respecting the natural ressources and their sustainable use. We try to improve our own green guide lines every year: by using green energy, looking for fair trade alternatives to multinational brands and establishing affordable price policies.
2-day tickets are availabe for the price of 15 euros (camping included, festival free for children under 14) at several presale places: more information can be found under www.lastsummerdance.lu or www.facebook.com/lasudalu
We’ll hope to meet you for a last summer dance on the 27th and 28th of August!
